ABOUT
Priscilla had grown up always singing with music being a part
of her life in many different ways. One way being her grandma, or “latina Marilyn Manroe”. As soon as music plays she is the first one up and belting…her voice projects and fills the room carrying everyone around out of their seat to dance and sing with her. Then, there is the icon that Priscilla has been able to look up to and collect the most unique experiences. Since Priscilla was 4 months she was backstage with headphones on to protect her ears while listening to her uncle, Mike Love of The Beach Boys singing. Growing up she joined him at every concert, singing and dancing on stage to the right of her uncle during Barbara Ann. Given these moments Priscilla took in each moment having so much love for the stage and for timeless music, one of the main aspects of the legendary music of The Beach Boys that has carried onto her music. Another way music has touched her life is through Disney. Her family being Disney fanatics, they had a tradition of the once a year visits to the Magical Kingdom. There her family would escape reality and create unforgettable memories. Priscilla’s imagination was greatly affected by the Disney films. One memory of Priscilla is when she would spend time grandmother's garden dressed in her princess gowns talking to her imaginary friend as well as the birds, butterflies, and squirrels. Definitely different, she had a hopeful vision of life that took a toll when her eldest brother got diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. When Priscilla was 8 years old her eldest brother got very sick with Crohn’s and Colitis. When Priscilla and her father would visit George and her mother he never seemed as sick as he truly was…he made sure of it. George would be |
laying in pain not even be able to even lift his head…but as soon as his little sister stepped into the hospital room, he'd suddenly be his comedic self. The doctors then couldn’t find what was the cause, leaving him to herself to sleep praying and begin to write down what she was feeling. This is how Priscilla’s songwriting journey began. Priscilla will never forget the moment he stepped through the door coming home. Her and her middle brother didn’t let him go. Always drawn to music she was a part of her school's choir in grammar school then continuing into high school where she was placed in the Honors Chambers Ensemble...It wasn't until her junior year when her choir teacher arranged a meeting with Priscilla and her parents. It was then when he asked the three of. them to consider a university called Berklee College of Music. Berklee College has saved her in many ways especially when she herself was in the hospital for heart failure. After the experience of having an older brother in the hospital for years on end Priscilla went through heart
failure with no fear, exactly the way she saw her brother. She was in the ICU while participating in zoom. She took songwriting classes where she was able to translate her trauma in real time into art. The stories from the songs born during that time explore her reaction to being blessed to have the opportunity to have a second chance at life. She was in love at the time with her best friend but the traumatic experience triggered her to have to separate herself from dependencies of any kind whether she liked it or not. After many conversations assuring her of the lifestyle change due to being physically and mentally weak she began to envision herself with the end in mind. No more vices, endless conversations with her inner child, which ignited an identity crisis. Priscilla had to let go of the version of herself she was at that moment. As soon as she was ready though she only began to stand up taller and stronger than ever before ready to do the work. The following chapters of her life Priscilla Ariana’s mission is to bring music to those in away that touches their souls…the very way music has touched her own. |
